The Secret to a Great Breakfast

This is sponsored content by BlogHer and Kelloggs.

I think the secret to a great breakfast is to eat breakfast. Before I had kids I used to always skip breakfast. It felt gross to eat early in the morning. But when I was pregnant I had to eat breakfast so I would have something more colorful than bile to throw up. Eating breakfast is good. Now I eat breakfast every day. I think I would faint if I didn't.

The other secret is to always have milk. If you always have milk you're golden. I have accomplished this by using a dairy to deliver my milk every week. If you have milk, life seems bounteous and good. When you're out of milk, the world seems like a desolate and barren place. And then, of course, you need $100 gift card from Visa to buy cereal to pour your milk on. So leave a comment. There are only a few more weeks left to win!

  2. I could use a $100 bucks to buy cereal and milk. I'd probably throw a kit kat and a diet coke in there too.

  3. At church the other week they were talking about high expectations of ourselves and not feeling successful. As long I have milk to pour on cereal, I feel I've accomplished the greatest of my housewifely duties.

  4. I'm a toast and protein drink gal. That $100 could buy a whole lot of protein drinks ;D

  5. Only one giveaway this week? The odds of me winning something were just cut in half! :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Is that a Periodic Table of Cereal? That is all sorts of awesome. As is cereal.

    ReplyDelete
  7. We used to have a dairy deliver milk as a kid. I thought it was pretty sweet. I don't even think that is an option out here in the boonies where I live.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I remember hearing that during the depression Milk was a treat. A TREAT. I was horrified. And humbled. But mostly horrified. I was in fifth grade.

    ReplyDelete
  9. when he was a kid my dad ate bread with milk poured on top as a treat. i'm grateful for cereal.

  10. So true about being out of milk! I always feel poor and out of control when I don't have milk in the fridge.

  11. Crispix is the world's best cereal.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think orange juice is a good morning staple too.

    ReplyDelete
  13. We were out of milk this morning and our house does feel barren without it especially with two little twin boys saying "can I have some milk?" Poor kids. Maybe I'll win and spend it all on milk for my boys.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Usually I hate milk. But I make an exception for cereal. Because really what is cereal without milk. My lactose intolerant grandmother used to put water on her cereal. As a kid, I remember thinking this was a sin against nature.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like milk and I like cereal and I like winning contests.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I feel the same about milk. If there's no milk, there's NOTHING to eat.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Milk is crucial. As are all other dairy products

    ReplyDelete
  18. My kids don't like cereal, but I don't cook them good stuff like eggs and pancakes for breakfast. At our house we call that dinner. So they eat toast in the morning. I don't think I'm helping your cause. I like cereal. I enjoy grapenuts and oatmeal squares. Don't know if they are kelloggs.

  19. I have been out of milk for the last two days and have no time for the store.

I do have time for blogging.

I need this win for obvious reasons.

  20. I've been liking frosted-mini-wheats sort of cereal lately. Seems hearty, but sugary at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have nothing clever to say, but I like giveaways. Especially for $100.

    ReplyDelete
  22. My husband would agree that milk is a must have....me, I prefer a Diet Pepsi.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree. Milk is very good to have. A refrigerator to keep it in helps a great deal too. To tell you the truth, if I won the card would certainly go toward a new, energy efficient refrigerator that I've been saving my change toward for months now. Between that and green energy rebates, I'm almost to where I can afford a very basic Energy Star rated refrigerator so we can finally replace the ancient energy-hog which was here long before we ever moved in.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Same as you, I used to never eat breakfast. I just wasn't hungry in the morning. Then, I started running and I was told I HAD to eat breakfast before I ran in the morning or else I'd die or something. Whatever. Pass the frosted mini wheats.

  27. Is it embarrassing that I still eat Lucky Charms more than any other cereal? However, I do cut them with Cheerios, cuz they are getting ca-razy with the ratio of bits to marshmallows.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That's how I feel about salsa. Without it, I'm bereft.

    ReplyDelete

  30. I like salsa for breakfast. Seriously. Well, with chips.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was just saying today that there are 3 things I need in order to feel at peace in my home. Toilet paper, dishwasher detergent and milk. If I am low or out of any of those things it stresses me out.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i like that you have a milk delivery service - very charming.

    ReplyDelete
  33. My kids won't ever let me pour milk on their cereal. They just eat it dry, with a spoon. What a bunch of weirdos. I have to leave the room when they are eating it. Cereal and milk is one of my favorite meals/snacks. But, really, the milk is a must!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm considering giving my kids powdered milk so they'll appreciate the farm fresh milk I buy.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm caught between wanting my kids to just feed themselves breakfast (i.e. pour their own dang milk in the bowl) and the inevitability that the milk will be spilled. Because I don't know about all those other goodie-goodies who say don't cry over it, but I'm not made of money folks. And, I know who has to clean it up, and it's ususally not the one who actually spilled it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I can't start my day without 2 cups of coffee. Then I'll have a cup of my favorite yogurt and I'm all set to go for my day.

  100. The secret to a great breakfast is to figure out what's important to your kids and go from there. We're not morning people - so if I hand them a bagel on the way out the door, they'll eat it. Otherwise, they'll just grumble, say they aren't hungry, and go without.
