This is what I've been waiting for because I love cereal and rating things. Please tell me your #1 cereal, or Top 10 Favorite Cereals or any other brief or long comment and you will have a chance--your penultimate chance--to win $100 Gift Card from Visa. Please try. Tweet for an extra chance. Here are more rules, et cetera. And without further ado, my top ten cereals.
*10. Coco Puffs (For a treat. Or every day.)
9. Raisin Bran (You may not have heard: Bran is really good for you.)
8. Captain Crunch (I like Cap'n Crunch original. Crunchberries hurt the roof of my mouth.)
7. Rice Crispies/Rice Chex (Tie.) (So what if I sprinkle sugar on them? Your blood needs sugar.)
6. Cinnamon Life
5. Multi-Grain Cheerios/Honey Nut Cheerios (Tie.) (I don't know if you've heard: Multi-grain things are really good for you.)
4. Frosted Flakes (After two bowls my sweet receptors stop working--try it.)
3. Frosted Mini Wheats--Giant (used to be "regular".)
2. Quaker Oatmeal Squares (More than anything, these help me get out of bed in the morning, even though the extremely thick cords from which this cereal is woven sometimes come undone and swell in the milk--which really freaks me out.)
1. Diet Coke
*When I was a kid I would have said Trix, Boo Berry, Lucky Charms, Golden Grahams, Fruit Loops, Sugar Smacks (now "Honey Smacks"), Super Sugar Crisp (now "Golden Crisp"), Cookie Crisp, Kix, and Apple Jacks.
Sugar Bear is way cooler than Dig 'em.

Mom’s Breakfast Club was started to help educate moms and families about kids’ cereal and share the scoop on their nutritional benefits and ingredients. To learn more about the program, visit http://www.loveyourcereal.com.

Special K and plain yellow-box Cheerios. And they have to be SOGGY or it's just not right.
ReplyDeleteOhs
ReplyDeleteMulti Grain Cheerios mixed with a little Grape Nuts (my kids think that Grape Nuts are really Wheat Rocks)
Original Captain Crunch for a treat.
Rice Chex and/or Crispix
Granola sprinkled over yogurt (gourmet cereal, no?)
Muesli (for when I dream of the Swiss Alps)
I love Rice Chex. I know that's strange, but I can't help it. They are yum.
ReplyDeleteI love frosted mini wheats and Quaker oatmeal squares, too. I bought twenty boxes once when they were on sale.
ReplyDeleteOatmeal Squares, Life, Wheat Chex, Muddy Buddies (when you mix chex with peanut butter and chocolate and powdered sugar--you know. Jason calls this Puppy Chow, but he is wrong.) I used to love Trix till they changed it to all the same boring shape. And I used to love Honeycomb till they changed the recipe. Nate used to love Oreo-O's, which made me gag just walking by him while he was eating them.
ReplyDeleteHoney Nut Rice Chex is delish. And one of the Kashi granolas - not the one that tastes like twigs and dirt.
ReplyDeleteSpecial K, Frosted Shredded Mini Wheats, Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Honey Nut Shredded Wheat, Cap'n Crunch...Lucky Charms were my childhood favorite, but I'm pretty over them now. I liked Trix, then they made them fruit shaped and the texture changed, but now they're back to the puffs, so I like them again. Cracklin' Oat Bran is good, but only dry. I, uh, eat a lot of cereal.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSS. Rice Chex. Cheerios. Corn Flakes.
ReplyDeleteMy kids like Frosted Mini Wheats. I don't understand it. It's just a big bite of straw.
My parents used to make me eat Wheaties. That was quite wrong of them, I think.
For every day, frosted mini wheats, except I am living in a country where they are not available, darn it. For a treat, peanut butter captain crunch. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI love Cinnamon Life and Golden Grahams (not together).
ReplyDeleteI love Cracklin' Oat Bran, Golden Grahams, and Frosted Mini Wheats Bite Size (regular not flavored. ick.)
ReplyDeleteTEAM flakes (which you can't get anymore, boo)
ReplyDeleteQuaker Granola
Wheat Chex
Crispix
Quaker Oat Squares
Rice Chex
Special K
Raisin Nut Bran
Lucky Charms
Honeycomb
Crispix for me!
ReplyDeleteMy ultimate all time #1 favorite cereal that I would love to eat every single day of the year and never get sick of? Count Chocula! Mmmmm! I don't know why I love them so much but these days you can only get it during Halloween. :-(
ReplyDeleteCinnamon Life (but really Reese's Puffs).
ReplyDeleteI am right there with ya on the quaker oat squares. I had some this morning. :)
ReplyDeleteMultigrain Cheerios are my new favorite.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Crunch with crunchberries.
Grapenuts.
When I was a kid we didn't eat cold cereal (except at my grandma's house, hello giant shredded wheat!)
We ate cracked wheat every day and we loved it. Which is why none of us siblings eat it ourselves now, or make our children eat it either.
I don't know how this happened, but I eat a lot of generic Grape Nuts.
ReplyDeleteCrispix
ReplyDeleteRaisin Nut Bran
Grapenuts
Cracklin Oat Bran
Cranberry Almond Crunch
For a treat:
Captain Crunch (NO CRUNCHBERRIES OF DISGUSTINGNESS)
Corn Pops
Cap'n Crunchberries tear up the roof of my mouth also! I've never discussed that with anyone before, it's been my secret shame.
ReplyDeleteI do however love, love, love Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch. Yummy.
I love Oatmeal Squares, too.
ReplyDeleteTop of my list is Honey Bunches of Oats (shortened to Honey Boats by my daughter when 2)
ReplyDeleteI also like a mix of Honey Nut Cheerios and plain Cheerios together.
Then comes Fruit Loops and Luckey Charms. I think I like these because we were never allowed sugar cereals when growing up.
I am loving Reeses Puffs but when I want to get serious I go for some Fruity Pebbles.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten:
ReplyDeleteChocolate Chex
Reese's Puffs
Kellog's Raisin Bran
Kellog's Rasin Bran Extra
Cinnamon Chex
Special K Vanilla Almond
Special K Cinnamon Pecan
Maple and Brown Sugar Frosted Mini Wheats
Honey Nut Cheerios
and
Honey Bunches of Oats with Pecan Bunches
Honey Bunches of Oats!
ReplyDeletedumei42 gmail com
Quaker Oak Squares and Life.
ReplyDeleteTop 10
ReplyDeleteGrapenuts
Frosted Mini Wheats
Captain Crunch
Life
Wheaties
Apple Jacks
Granola
Golden Grahams
Chex (any kind)
Reeses Puffs (my boy's favorite)
Grapenuts. They are good.
ReplyDeleteMy dog liked grapenuts, too. His name was Barney and he could do math and say mama. And every morning my mom would make him hot grapenuts in the microwave. Which was ironic cause my dad made dog food for a living. (Barney was also ok with Mighty Dog.)
I think people with (deceased) talking dogs who ate cereal should win $100.
(I also have stories about people who eat dog food, if that seems more interesting.)
1. Raisin Nut Bran--by a mile
ReplyDelete2. Quaker Granola
3. Plain Cheerios
4. Life
5. Frosted Shredded Mini Wheats
Apologies to your sponsor. I don't think any of those are made by Kellogg's.
I like corn flakes. My daughter likes lucky charms.
ReplyDeleteMCantu1019@aol.com
I would eat frosted miniwheats for every meal if I could, but my digestive system just won't stand for that.
ReplyDeleteLove the bite size Miniwheats. Cinnamon Life was great when I was a kid but I think they changed the recipe enough that I didn't like it anymore. But the most dangerously addictive one for me is Capn Crunch Peanut Butter. I just can't buy it or it will all be gone in a day. And my kids won't get any.
ReplyDeleteGreat Grains Crunchy Pecans, Kashi Golean Crunch, Waffle Crisp, Raisin Nut Bran, Reese's Puffs, Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Corn Chex, Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds, Fruity Pebbles. In that order. For now. Mmmm, cereal.
ReplyDeleteI eat coco puffs for dessert, being in my 40's means I need my bran in the morning. Too get things started, you know.
ReplyDeleteGolden Grahams is my favorite.
ReplyDeletemami2jcn at gmail dot com
I can never find it any more, but I love Cracklin' Oat Bran.
ReplyDeleteBut I've recently fallen for Special K's Cinnamon Pecan. YUM...pecans!
seasoncolor at gmail dot com
My number one cereal is Frosted Flakes (duh, they're great!) with super-cold milk and strawberries/bananas.
ReplyDeleteLife. Just plain Life. Dry. Yup. You bet!
ReplyDeleteLife
ReplyDeleteRaisin Bran (Kellogg's is the best. Seriously.)
Frosted Flakes
Froot Loops (Haven't had them in forever, but remember them fondly.)
And honestly, plain old Corn Flakes - with lots of sugar so they turn into Frosted Flakes, I guess.
I don't see a need for any cereal other than Count Chocula.
ReplyDeletegolden grahams in s'mores bars!
ReplyDeleteEating cereal is like eating my childhood covered in milk. All of my favorites have been favorites since I needed a booster chair to reach the breakfast table. Frosted Flakes was always/is still my #1.
ReplyDeleteMy number 1 cereal is frosted mini wheats but when I was a child I loved plain cheerios with loads of sugar!

ReplyDeleteFrosted Flakes
ReplyDeleteRice Chex (but mostly I just want to eat those in Muddy Buddies form)
Frosted Mini-Wheats
Honey Nut Cheerios (except for the bad breath for 3 days after eating them)
Life
Oatmeal Crisp
Colon Blow
OMG, those oatmeal squares are so good. I love 'em and I love Golden Grahams, too. But it's been total and yogurt for me lately because I am old and sickly and I need $100.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I love chocolate frosted mini wheats. It took me months to realize they were being marketed to children, and not me.
ReplyDeletei like raisin bran or honeycomb. but i am currently on an elimination diet for the benefit of my nursing baby with food sensitivities, so my current fave is barbara's organic brown rice krispies. being a mom is hard work sometimes - i deserve $100 for that, right? :)
ReplyDeleteMy current #1 favorite cereal is granola w/raisins and honey.

ReplyDeleteI can't ever remember the name, but it's Quaker and branny and square. Ah, Google just delivered: Crunchy Corn Bran. Very good. And obviously, I never buy.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Frosted Mini Wheats! Quaker Oatmeal Squares are a close second -- there aren't too many cereals I DON'T like, really!

ReplyDeleteMy current favorite is Raisin Bran Extra. Love it!
I love Kellogg's Bran Flakes (in a bowl with icy cold milk). I also love to eat Crispix dry--right out-of-the box. It's a great snack. Not too salty, not sweet, not sticky or messy--it's perfect! Thanks for the giveaway.
