Summer Recap

BlogHer Reviewer
Now that the kids are back in school I'm finally in a place where I can look back over the summer fondly. It wasn't all sticky floors, fighting kids, and unnapping toddlers. We actually had a pretty good summer. We left for a week-long trip to San Diego after the last day of school. If you have more than a couple kids, you can't stay in a hotel anymore. You need to rent a beach house right on the beach with a kitchen so you don't have to eat out for every meal. Just some.
The grandparents made marshmallow shooters this summer! We quit doing our hair!
We did stunt swinging!

We played at the playground!

We rested a lot, too.

  2. Here's crossing my fingers that it's me this time.

Yay for breakfast. I'm so excited to go to the states for some Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch.

  4. We had a great summer but I am glad it's fall. I love the fall. It would be even better if I could win 100 bucks!

  5. I love summer for all the fresh fruit, but for some reason, I'm already looking forward to Christmas. I think my 18 mo. Old has something to do with it.

  6. Your posts always make me laugh, and enjoy being a mom even more!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hey Kacy! You can rig these things, right? I like you, and I like money.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Fall is definitely more my speed. And style. I'm sick of wearing the same 3 short sleeve t-shirts. Oh, and I love cereal (do I have to say that?)

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm delighted that summer is ending, fall has always been my favorite season, and that should be prize enough - but I guess I'm just greedy like that.

  10. Oooh, San Diego sounds like fun. I wish I were there!

    ReplyDelete
  11. That Spider Man costume is so cute!

  12. Oooh, gotta love a beach house! Hope I win!

  13. It is still 110+ here so I am having a hard time believing in fall.

  14. I love your blog. But I hate commenting. But I do, really, sincerely, love your blog. And $100 wouldn't be bad either.

  15. I was just having some of the same feelings about summer. *sigh* Mostly, "Good Riddance!"

Again, I promose to buy something Kelloggg's if you pick me. But now I don't think you can really choose me since you already chose a blonde Jamie blogger LAST week. People will think it's a scam.

So maybe next week? And you can just call me by my nickname, Maj. (like major--it was my brother's invention, my name backward, drop the "EE"--it stuck somehow). He loves cereal, btw. He used to hide the good stuff under his bed. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do in a family of 13 kids.

  16. Are you saying that your floors are NOT sticky now that your kids are in school?!
I have done some research over the past two weeks and determined that I get exactly 1% more housework done with only three kids at home as opposed to five. The result: my housecleaning efforts remain FUTILE! and embarrassing when people just show up at my house unannounced.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sounds like an awesome summer!
Floors aren't supposed to be sticky???
Love San Diego...we have 4 kids, so I know about the whole trying to get a hotel thing...VRBO is a great way to go!

    Hooray for Fall!!!

  18. Warm Sunday mornings with loved ones in the back yard with bees buzzing around the rose bushes and table piled high with blueberry pancakes, ripe strawberries and fresh squeezed orange juice.

  19. I had a surprisingly good summer with the kids this year also. Guess that happens when they get older.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm ready for Fall too! Here's hoping it's rainy and cool.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I want Beth to have $100. I also would like the $100, but she should have it because she needs to go shopping and forget that her floors are sticky at home.

  22. Post videos of Ellen! And give me money!

  23. Glad you had a nice summer. Pick me!

  24. I do have more than a couple kids. But my husband thinks we need camp everywhere we go. He also is proud to admit he's never sent a text before. It's going to be a long eternity with that one.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Beach houses are definitely the way to go. They are better than hotels, and A LOT better than camping.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love a good giveaway almost as much as I love your blog.

  27. While there are so many awesome things about summer, I agree that Fall is just a wee bit better.

  36. I just found your blog recently and it's the best blog I've ever read. You are hilarious and wise and I don't know why I might win $100 for leaving this comment but I'll take it. My husband made some of those marshmellow shooters and they have been a burden in my life--marshmellows everywhere! But perhaps you are a more loving and tolerant person than I am.

    ReplyDelete
  37. At first I thought marshmellow shooters were something to drink. Oh well! Still sounds like an awesome summer!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love the lethargic Spider-(Wo)Man on the floor. That's how I feel right now, actually.

  40. I can't wait for summer to be over. Unfortunately, fall isn't the same here in Arizona as it was growing up in Utah. I really miss the smell of Autumn in the air and the trees changing color.

  89. My daughter is 14 and really wants to learn how to cook. We spent the summer doing "cooking camp" where I show her a new recipe and we make it together. She's got brownies down pat and there's been a brownies in my kitchen all summer long (hence why I need to go on a diet; I've gained 10 pounds this summer-next year it'll be "diet cooking camp" LOL)
